Sir Michael Parkinson, The king of the chat shows for decades, as an interviewer of some of the biggest names in the world has died aged 88. But there was more to him than just as an chat show host and journalist and how his father was determined to keep this Yorkshireman from going down the coal pits, that may have been expected of him otherwise. He died last night after a short illness. His birthday was last March. He was also known as 'Parky'.
