It was subjected to years of decay as its original owners had long since passed. In fact, remnants of the family that once lived here are evidenced by the numerous portraits scattered across the thirty-odd rooms. Collectively they depict a family and various servants, the core as far as I can tell being a mother, father, and three children who all resided in the main hall. I don't exactly know who these people were, or what they did during their lives, but based on these portraits (as well as various journals I've found) they seemed to be an eclectic group. I also cannot discern what exactly happened to the residents; any trace of their presence here seems to just stop abruptly. The mansion is filled with what I can only assume is all of their belongings; clothes, furniture, books, and valuables are all scattered about the rooms. Either they all abandoned the mansion in a great hurry, or maybe they succumbed to a terrible fate... A few times I saw an old man in a white coat doddering around the perimeter, but anytime I'd approach he would duck into a nearby garden shed. From there he'd seemingly vanish, as peering inside would reveal an empty room. There's nobody else around for miles to get more information about the place or the family; in fact the surrounding area seemed to be eerily devoid of life. The trees are all barren, and there aren't any animals save for few crows that seem to fly overhead. I couldn't stay in the mansion for more than a few hours, the place filled me with dread and it felt as if there was a sinister presence. In fact there were a few rooms I couldn’t enter, some were blocked but others seemed to emit an evil aura that repelled me from the door. This feeling seemed to be emanating from the basement, which I only explored once. Perhaps a brave adventurer would find the place and uncover all of its secrets." From the Memoirs of Zachary "Maestro" Loy, Digi-musicologist Luigi's Mansion celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 14, 2021, 20 years of ghost catching for our favorite green-clad plumber. My first experience with the game was on Christmas 2001, and it immediately became a favorite to revisit in the years since. Compared to the rest of the Mario franchise, Luigi's Mansion is something of an oddity; it's gameplay is unique and lacks some of the staples like the ability to jump. However I love the series, and it being the only vehicle (cough) to give Luigi a starring role has done a lot to endear it to Luigi fans. A thousand years ago I teased a possible piano arrangement of the Luigi's Mansion theme, however around that time I stopped making piano arrangement to focus on larger, orchestral pieces. However inspiration would come February 2021, following a play-through of Luigi's Mansion 3. "Luigi's Mansion is turning 20, I have to do something. I have to do something big." When I began this project, it was originally just another arrangement, albeit larger in scale compared to my previous works featured on this channel and intended as a 20th anniversary celebration of Luigi's mansion. The project began in the shadow of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and as time wore on I began to realize I inadvertently wrote a requiem for those we lost to the pandemic. This is dedicated to their memory.
