As they arrive in Cyprus, they encounter Elymas the sorcerer, a man determined to block the gospel and keep others from the truth. But the light of Christ cannot be resisted forever. Paul, filled with the Spirit, exposes the darkness at work and speaks a word of judgment that leaves Elymas physically blinded—an outward picture of the spiritual blindness he had chosen. Yet even in this act, God’s mercy shines through, revealing that His light breaks through opposition, transforms lives, and confirms the truth of the gospel.
