Hello friends welcome to my channel, My name is Akash Prajapati, Today's topic is Epithelial Cells in Urine Test. • Epithelial cells are cells found in urine that are important indicators of the health of the urinary tract • The cells that line the surface of our body are known as epithelial cells • They are found in all parts of the body such as blood vessels, skin, urinary tract etc. • It is normal to have some squamous epithelial cells and transitional epithelial cells present in urine • An increased number of epithelial cells in urine is an indicator of some underlying health issues • Based on the type and quantity of epithelial cells found in urine, the doctor can provide valuable information about the health of the urinary tract • This includes identifying urinary tract infection, kidney disease or other serious conditions Types of epithelial cells:- 1). Squamous epithelial cells: These are flat, sheet-like cells. They may be present in small numbers in the urine, but if they are found in large numbers, it usually indicates contamination of the urine sample. 2). Transitional epithelial cells: They are composed of several layers of cells that flatten when stretched. These are the cells that line the bladder and urinary tract. The presence of large numbers of transitional epithelial cells may indicate a urinary tract infection. 3). Renal tubular epithelial cells: These are the cells that line the kidney tubules. The presence of renal tubular epithelial cells in the urine may indicate damage to the kidney (due to viral infection, heavy metal toxicity, etc.). When symptoms are present, they are often associated with the underlying disease condition that is causing the elevated epithelial cell counts in the urine. Additionally, the doctor may also recommend this test if you are experiencing symptoms of a kidney or urinary disorder, such as: Abdominal pain. Frequent urination. Painful urination. Back pain. Causes of epithelial cells in urine The presence of epithelial cells in urine is common, but excessive amounts of these cells may be a sign of an underlying health problem. Abnormal levels of epithelial cells in urine can be caused by various factors, including the following: Urinary tract infection (UTI): A UTI is an infection of the urinary system involving the urethra, bladder, or kidneys. Urinary tract infections are caused by microorganisms, usually bacteria entering the urethra and bladder, which causes infection and inflammation. Certain types of cancer (bladder cancer): Cancer begins in the lining of the bladder. Bladder cancer can be caused by exposure to certain chemicals, frequent bladder infections, etc. Kidney diseases: Kidney diseases occur when your kidneys are damaged and unable to filter blood. Diabetes and high blood pressure are the most common causes. Other causes are glomerulonephritis (damaged filtering unit), pyelonephritis (recurrent kidney infection), etc. Liver disease: Liver disease refers to any condition that affects and damages the liver. Liver disease can be caused by a variety of viral infections, cancer, etc. Urine Crystal test in hindi - • Causes & Symptoms of Urine Crystal Test | ...
