FC Schalke 04 players took part in training under the guidance of under-19's boss Mike Buskens and coaches Onur Cinel and Naldo. The club sacked head coach Christian Gross on 28th February after two months in charge following a miserable German Bundesliga campaign. The Gelsenkirchen-based club are last in the league and nine points adrift of safety with 11 matches of the season remaining. Gross was fired a day after a 5-1 loss at Stuttgart - with rumours that the 66-year-old Swiss had apparently lost the support of the dressing room - which left Schalke looking for its fifth boss of a turbulent season. Gross led the team to its only win of the season to end a 30-game winless run in the Bundesliga, but failed to build on that, with Schalke earning just five points from his 10 league matches in charge.
