Learn to perform the rigorous design of continuous distillation column in Aspen HYSYS, based on initial estimates provided for the simulation study. In this video (1st Part), the two requirements are top product flowrate and its % composition and performance analysis of the column is done. In 2nd part of this video, we will change our column requirements and tray efficiency, and will do the performance analysis of the column. Problem Statement: A feed mixture consisting of 60 mol% benzene and 40 mol% toluene is fed to the distillation column at 2 bar. The vapor fraction of the mixture is 0.5. The flow-rate of the mixture is 100 kgmole/h. Following are the parameters provided for the simulation: o Number of Stage = 50 o Feed Stage = 25 o Condenser pressure = 1.9 bar o Condenser type = Total Condenser o Reboiler pressure = 2 bar o Top product flowrate = 60 kgmole/h o % age purity of top product (99% benzene, 1 % toluene).
