As week four of the trial looking into the disappearance of then 6-year-old Joshlin Smith in the western cape high court sitting on Saldanha Bay, key state witness Lourentia Lombaard concluded her nine-day testimony and cross examination, where her evidence in chief was tested. Lombaard admitted that she lied in the first statement she made to police in march 2024 after her arrest. She then said her confession statement was the truth, but the defense picked up discrepancies in her confession and evidence in chief. After the fourth and last incident when Lombaard fell ill on the witness stand, judge Nathan Erasmus voiced his frustration with her. Nasiphi Same and Linda Mnisi have the details.
