The information in this video is just based on personal experience, and how easy I found it getting around Tokyo. Firstly, an IC Card just makes things so much easier, no need to work out fares, fumbling around with tiny little cardboard stubs, just tap on/off, done. Personally I use the Suica Card which is built in to Apple Wallet, but you can buy a physical card at the airport upon arrival (Suica, Pasmo, they all work across all networks). Apple Maps (and I assume Google Maps would be similar) is a god send, just enter your destination and everything you need to know is provided, right down to the best train carriage to ride in to best line up with destination exits or transfer points. And when it lists the exit to use, ie East, West, 25, 12 this can save you a lot of time instead of walking around aimlessly trying to get out. Yes, some of the stations are insanely big and busy, but they are all very well sign posted, maps everywhere, and almost everything is in both Japanese & English. If you get stuck, showing station staff the map with destination visible is usually all the is needed to be on your way. Also to note, there are multiple train operators in Tokyo, so your train trip may require a couple of transits, again, all well sign posted, and in most cases you tap off to leave one train line, and tap on to catch the next. I did notice on a few transfers between companies there was no gates, but it works it out for you as seperate faces based on where you started and ended up (it knows the only transfer points). As daunting as it may seem given the scale of the network, I personally found it very easy to navigate, allowing for a few hiccups here and there. Apologies for the mix up with Akihabara & Ikebukuro... I got it right eventually.
