There are collectively about 27 motions in limine from both sides to be heard and decided by Judge Hippler before trial begins on July 30th. Some of them have been meaty sources of new information - the motions about AT&T Timing Advance data, Amazon click data, and 911 calls/texts between the surviving roommates have given us more new information about the case than we have learned in a long time. We've also learned that Bryan has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, more details about D.M.'s police interviews, and much more about Bryan's DNA and the knife sheath from which it was recovered. The judge has denied live witness testimony for the hearing, but he has instructed the parties to have their witnesses available to appear by Zoom if necessary. So, we may or may not get new testimony in this hearing. But even if we don't, the decisions on preliminary legal issues can be critical in framing how the cases are presented to the jury, so the outcome of this hearing will directly affect how the case is tried.
