Female Osprey NC0 Returns - Loch of the Lowes Webcam (2026)

The 2026 osprey season is officially underway at Loch of the Lowes, with long term breeding female Blue NC0 returning to the nest at 18:00 on Wed 18th March. NC0 (so called due to her missing blue colour Darvic ring), is a 10 year old osprey and has been resident at Lowes from 2020 - 2024, fledging 7 chicks in that time. Last season she arrived on the 17th March, however after two weeks of waiting for a male, she left the territory for unknown reasons, either to seek out a mate, another nest site, or was possibly seen off by a more dominant female. Regardless of what happened last year, it is fantastic to see her live and well, and looking healthy! NC0 quickly settled into arranging the furniture on the nest, took a flight around the reserve, hung out on her favourite 'Split Birch' perch, before landing on top of the camera for a spot of preening. Then it was time to settle down, roosting on the nest overnight. We don't know if NC0 will stick around, build up the nest and attempt to breed, or if this is just a familiar stopping off point for her. Only time will tell.
