On Friday the 31st of August 2018, the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland ran their annual ''Steam & Jazz'' tour around the Belfast area, the tour started at the RPSI's headquarters at Whitehead where it ran to Lisburn before returning, the second leg only went as far as Belfast Central (Now Lanyon Place). Locations filmed... 00:00 - 01:04, Whiteabbey. 01:04 - 02:10, Thornhill Road, Dunmurry. 02:10 - 02:54, Hilden. 02:54 - 04:48, Kings Road, Whitehead. 04:48 - 05:57, Whitehead Excursion Station. 05:57 - 12:11, Carrickfergus. 12:11 - 13:30, Trooperslane. 13:30 - 14:38, Jordanstown. The video also featured some footage of the jazz band playing at Carrickfergus. RPSI's K2 class loco number 461 was supposed to work the second leg to Belfast, however due to a failure with the loco it was replaced by 131, 461's boiler certificate is due to expire in October of 2018, and it is very unlikely the loco will be used again for a couple of years, 5 at the minimum, so in the video we see 461 moving under it's own power for what could be the last time, which is quite heart braking considering it is my favorite steam locomotive. As per usual with the northern based tours the coaching stock used was the RPSI's Mk2 Coaches. Please feel free to comment, like & subscribe.
