How to Play the Harpsichord: Early Keyboard Fingerings

HOW TO PLAY THE HARPSICHORD: EARLY KEYBOARD FINGERINGS / One of the most important parts of learning how to play the harpsichord is knowing about early keyboard fingerings. In this video I discuss what early keyboard fingerings are, how they changed over time, how to practice and apply them, and how to find further information about them. I use a wealth of examples from the 16th through the 18th centuries that give insight into how to play a harpsichord. Examples include music by Christian Erbach, Orlando Gibbons, Guillaume-Gabriel Nivers, Alessandro Scarlatti, François Couperin, Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Nicolò Pasquali, Tomás de Sancta María, and Edward Miller, and quotes by Girolamo Diruta, Jean Denis, and CPE Bach.
