Lagarada - Pisar as uvas / Tread the grapes

LAGARADA - Após a vindima é preciso transformar as uvas em vinho. A inovação tecnológica pôs fim à pisa tradicional das uvas, designada por lagarada. As uvas eram colocadas em grandes tanques de pedra chamados lagares, onde os trabalhadores usavam os pés para as esmagar e libertar o líquido que acabaria por produzir o vinho. Enquanto alguns dos homens pisavam as uvas, outros cantavam acompanhando o ritmo do acordeão e da guitarra. É esta recriação, em ambiente de festa, que atualmente tem lugar em algumas Quintas. Foi o que aconteceu na Quinta de Campanhã, na Régua, onde se realizou a Festa das Vindimas da CP (Comboios de Portugal).    • Festa das Vindimas / Grape Harvest Festival   LAGARADA - After harvesting the grapes, you must turn them into wine. Technological innovation put an end to the traditional treading of grapes, called “lagarada”. The grapes were put in large stone tanks called “lagares” where the workers used their feet to squash them to release the liquid that would eventually produce wine. While some men were treading the grapes, others sang along to the beat of the accordion and the guitar. It is this festive recreation that currently takes place on some Farms.
