Grosslockner - 3798m: 30th October 2022 An Aussie, Pole and a couple of Germans reunite to climb Austria's Highest Peak. Complete strangers months prior, Khan Tengri (7010m), Kyrgyzstan our common meeting ground. Parting separate ways upon witnessing horrific events and unfavourable weather conditions. The mind empty and the feet itching for more we spontaneously decide to team up and take our chances on Grosslockner just a weeks notice. The approach rather straight forward, arriving just after noon at Erzherzog hut in a mere few hours. Contemplating to complete the climb in a day though reluctant with the numerous figures and crowds visible above. The night sky forecasted to be calm and clear, opting to sleep outside on the snow and scale the summit at first light. The snow firm and crisp, crunching with every step on route to the ridgeline before cherishing a rare moment with the summit to ourselves.
