Conference Panel Artificial Intelligence, welfare and policy regulation Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly developing technology that has the potential to improve various aspects of human life. However, the speed of these developments and the breadth of AI applications are posing significant challenges from an ethical, social and legal viewpoints. On the economic side, there are hopes that AI will promote productivity, efficiency and innovation. However, there are also worries about workers displacement, future employment opportunities and inequalities. A new regulatory regime will be necessary to maximize the gains from AI and ensure that its benefits will be enjoyed by many. In this special session three experts will shed light on these issues, further our understanding of the intricacies of AI and its ubiquitous nature and promote discussion of how best to adapt to this new technological development.
