Playthrough with the Ikari team. KoF '95 features the return of almost every character from the previous game, with only the USA sport team not making the cut. They were replaced with Billy, Eiji and Iori Yagami, with Iori going on to become one of the most popular characters in the series. Character sprites were reused from the previous games, but were given a lot of new moves and animations. A new team edit option was added, allowing players to pick any three characters for their team. This would also be the last Neo Geo KoF game to have unique team specific backgrounds. Gameplay is very similar to KoF '94, with a few additions and changes. Taunts are now done by pressing the B and C buttons together. You can also now do an attack whilst dodging. Guard cancelling is now also possible -when the POW gauge if full, if you input a special move whilst blocking, you can cancel out of the block. The other major change is that the amount of damage every move does in this game was increased, even basic combos can take off large amounts of life. The CPU is as aggressive as most other fighting games out in 1995, although I have to say this game was not that bad when playing as the Ikari team. The CPU seems to get a bit dumb against them at times, often not blocking their basic jumping or crouching strong kicks. Boss number one is Saisyu, who is difficult to deal with. I had some luck using Heidern’s down, up, punch move when I was practicing this, but of course when the time came to record he didn’t fall for it at all. Thankfully and surprisingly you can take down Saisyu with Ralf’s jumping C&D attack, for some reason Saisy doesn’t tend to counter it with his dp. Boss number two is Omega Rugal. He has all the same moves as in the previous game, plus a new desperation move. The game plan is to use Ralph or Clark and then just take your time. Get to the corner and wait around, Rugal’s AI moves very strangely if you just stand around. You want to wait for him to come near you then try a standing strong punch of a crouching strong kick. I really wanted to use Clark’s super move which is why I took so much damage, if I’d just done it normally I would have won without it being so close.
