Today I explore Dapoer Sasak in Mataram, a restaurant famous for serving authentic Sasak cuisine from Lombok. The highlight of my visit was trying two traditional dishes that truly represent the island’s unique food culture. First up was urap, a fresh vegetable salad mixed with spiced grated coconut. Light, healthy, and full of flavour, it showed me how Lombok food balances freshness with richness. Then came plecing kangkung, Lombok’s signature dish made with water spinach, sambal, and a squeeze of lime. The chilli kick and tangy freshness made it unforgettable. Dapoer Sasak is more than a restaurant. It feels like stepping into Lombok’s culinary traditions, where every dish tells a story of culture, spice, and community.
