Congenital Syphilis: Yesterday and Today, From the Lenses of Three 'Doctors William' PRESENTER William Christopher Golden, MD Associate Professor of Pediatrics, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine SESSION DESCRIPTION The talk will focus on congenital syphilis (CS) in the United States. Dr. Golden will highlight the clinical presentation of CS as well as current epidemiology of perinatal syphilis infections. He will emphasize controversies and conundrums in the practice of assessing pregnant women and neonates for syphilis infections, as well as the challenges of treating CS in newborns. Throughout the talk, Dr. Golden will add historical perspectives on syphilis, introducing the audience to a seminal but less well-known scientist who revolutionized the diagnosis of syphilis in the early 20th century.
