Is Bahia de Caraquez the new, improved Salinas? | ECUADOR

Bahia de Caraquez is a beautiful town on a peninsula that is becoming more popular with foreigners for good reason. Just north of Manta it's actually an estuary that has a river beach on one side and an ocean on the other. All the photos I'd seen make it look like a city similar to Salinas so I was surprised to see it was more like a lovely town. We stayed 3 nights in Coco Bongo, which we loved, and I'd recommend. Bahia really grew on us. There isn't a lot of things "to do" in town but it's a great beach town if you just want to relax.
