Large Tomato Cages/Trellises Made from Concrete Mesh | PNW

Hi friends, it is hard to believe tomato season will be upon us before we know it. In this video, I am building large tomato cages/trellises out of concrete mesh- available at home repair stores. The mesh is sold either as sheets or in large rolls (I used a large roll). The steel is strong and not too difficult to cut with bolt cutters. The real benefit is the 6x6” holes for easy access to tomatoes. The downside is that the metal is not galvanized so they either need to be painted or accepted as rusty cages (personally, I do not like painting). These cages are nice because you can make them any size you want. For me, I used a 7 foot length and rolled it- losing a foot to overlapping to close. You can also cut them in half (height wise) for smaller plants. I plan to also experiment with using them with cucumbers and runner beans. I hope this video was helpful and thank you for watching.
