The Brahmaputra river in Assam is home to nearly 2,500 islands inhabited by 2.5 million people with limited medical access. Since 2005, the Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, along with the National Health Mission, has deployed boat clinics staffed by doctors and nurses focusing on reproductive and child care. Focusing on a boat clinic in Tinsukia that grapples with formidable weather and river challenges, the BBC's Seraj Ali and Bimal Thankachan follow the crew as they provide medical aid to the people on the river islands.
