Self-watering wicking method for growing peppers experiment. For this wicking system I'm using a 5 gallon bucket. After seeing great results with my smaller scale wicking containers made from Styrofoam cups, I've attempted a larger scale version using a six inch net pot bucket lid in a 5 gallon bucket. I made a small overflow in the side that keeps the solution below the bottom of the net pot by about 1.5 inches. For the substrate I used coco coir, and I used an inch wide strip of micro fiber cloth for the wicking materal. It has a 3/4" fill pipe for adding nutrient solution. Current it has a mix of masterblend, epsom salt and calcium nitrate at a strength of approximately 900 ppm/1.8 EC. The plant is a White Devil's Tail, seed courtesy of my friend Jesus Rosario. This is an experiment, so I don't know how well it will work, but I'll share the progress on my channel. Please subscribe for updates.
