MISS SOUTH AFRICA And Their Horrible Yet Fascinating History. 🤯 -    • MISS SOUTH AFRICA  And Their Horrible Yet ...   South Africa's CRAZY history at Miss Universe. 😳 -    • South Africa's CRAZY history at Miss Unive...   Granted, Namibia hasn't exactly been of the forefront of everyone's mind when it comes to international pageantry success, but being Namibian (sort of, the other half of me is South African... and I'm ethnically Dutch and French and German and Scottish and Irish and... nevermind) I wanted to look into the history of Miss Namibia in order to see how exactly we got to where we are. Despite having existed since 1980, the Miss Namibia Organization only boasts ONE international title: Miss Universe 1992. This made Michelle McLean the golden girl in Namibia, at least until the Miss Supranational Namibia Organization came around and won the Miss Supranational title in 2021 through Chanique Rabe - which makes her the golden girl now I guess... On the other hand, the Miss Namibia Organization have never won a Miss World crown. We have merely placed at Miss World: TOP 5 - MISS WORLD 1991 - MICHELLE MCLEAN TOP17 - MISS WORLD 2006 - ANNA NASHANDI TOP 25 - MISS WORLD 2010 - ODILE GERTZE At Miss Universe, we have only ever placed ONCE outside of Michelle McLean's 1992 win: TOP 10 - MISS UNIVERSE 2003 - NDAPEWA ALFONS I believed in 2021 that Chelsi Shikongo would secure a placement for Namibia at Miss Universe 2021, but alas... Namibia can, however, take pride in the fact that we are the only African country in the history of Miss Universe to have hosted the Miss Universe pageant in 1995.
