Grosse Bockenheimer Street is a continuation of the pedestrian shopping street Zeil. Back in the 1900s, this street was named Fressgasse, as the locals called it. It housed numerous grocery stores, butcher shops, and bakeries. It served mainly the residents of Westend. Today, Grosse Bockenheimer is home to many brand-name stores and boutiques, restaurants and cafes. This street is also known as the culinary street. Street food festivals are often held here, as is the annual Rheingau Wine Festival. During our walk we can admire the architecture of the buildings located on Grosse Bockenheimer and watch the colorful lights of the shop windows and restaurants.
