Sign My Name to Freedom is a feature-length documentary film in progress about legendary national park ranger Betty Reid Soskin. Rather than focusing on her work as a ranger, the film takes that as it's jumping off point and explores lesser known parts of Betty's life, including her family's role as the first African Americans to cross the color line into a racially segregated suburb of Berkeley and Betty's little known work as a singer/songwriter during the 1960s and 1970s. The film's production team has completed the vast majority of shooting for the documentary, and they are currently fundraising via a crowdfunding campaign in hopes of completing the film while Betty is still around to experience it. She is currently 102 and lives in Richmond, CA. Tax-deductible contributions to the crowdfunding campaign can be made via the link below. https://seedandspark.com/fund/sign-my... Donations will be used to help complete editing for the film, to shoot dramatic recreations for parts of Betty's personal story that were never filmed or photographed, and to restore and remaster her old audio recordings to release an album of her never-before heard music along with the film.
