I didn't skip the dialogue with Scherezard - if you want to skip over the fight it ends at around 51:00 A very long and boring fight - Joshua does have his ultimate weapon (from the gambler jack books), and he has the ruby gem and sapphire gem - the enemies just have that high defense. It probably would've been a lot faster if I had brought Kloe so I had 2 relatively competent attackers instead of relying so much on Joshua for damage. Somehow in my first playthrough I never realized what her doubles actually did - it almost completely screwed me up when my characters got teleported all over the map when I killed them, but once I actually figured out what had happened the fight was pretty easy to deal with afterwards (if you hit Luciola her doubles will disappear, but if you hit a double it will swap places with one of your characters randomly before dying as far as I can tell).
