Karl Lagerfeld has been at the helm of the French fashion house Chanel for over three decades. For a man in his eighties, his schedule is relentless. He still does eight collections a year for the brand, not to mention his work on his own label and Fendi. The shows are the pinnacle of fashion theatre - they need to be - the clothes are only for those with blockbuster budgets. But the price tags don't seem to be putting customers off. Most items have waiting lists. I caught up with him in London and began by asking how he reinvigorated the Chanel brand.
