The seat of Indra with the stay under the shades of Karpaga tree and the salvation to be devoid of the birth-death cycles, not having another earthly mother shall be had by devotees that meditate up on the auspicious form of mother Abhirami - whose tresses are decorated with fragrant flowers, who carried the eight mountains, the salty waters of raising seven seas, and the fourteen worlds, in her holy belly, and gave birth to them. Goddess Abhirami is a form of Goddess Devi. She is believed to be extremely powerful and fulfills the wishes of all her devotees. Mother Abhirami is the presiding Goddess of Thirukadayur, Tamil Nadu, India. Andhadhi (அந்தாதி) is a unique kind of tamil poetry constructed such that the last or ending word of each verse becomes the first word of the next verse. Since this andhadhi was sung on goddess Abhirami it is known as Abhirami Andhadhi. There are a 102 poems including a காப்பு (Kāppu) verse on lord Ganesha and a final பயன் (Payan). With the blessings of Kanchi Paramaacharya (Sri Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati swamigal), my first guru & grand mother Smt Seethalakshmi Narayanan had set the tune to Abirami Andhadhi in 102 ragas. She was blessed with the title “Suswara Gāna Ratna” by His Holiness after listening to the entire Abhirami Andhadhi. I was fortunate to learn these beautiful poems from my grandmother. Sahana Sankar, a very passionate and sincere student of music belongs to a musically inclined family. She was initiated into music by her mother Smt Uma Sankar and continues to learn from Smt Uma Prakash (Chinamaya sisters). Sahana has won prizes in competitions and since 2019 she has been performing concerts. She has been learning Abhirami Andhadhi with a lot of devotion.
