The Fowler Kit: A Historically Accurate Recreation of 1760s-1770s English Smoothbore Flintlocks

The Fowler Kit is a smoothbore flintlock inspired by the muzzleloaders that were commonly used in the American Colonies during the 1760s and 1770s. Unlike our other kits, the Fowler is designed to fire shot. The kit includes a 3-stage barrel, with a round forward section, a larger middle, and an octagon breech—just like the originals. The stock is CNC-machined for a perfect fit and comes with all the holes already drilled, making it easier for you to assemble. It also features brass hardware and relief carvings around the tang and lock area, giving it that old-school, classic look. You can choose between a 16 or 20 gauge barrel, with the 20 gauge being the better option if you're planning to shoot round balls. The 16 gauge weighs about 6 1/2 pounds, and the 20 gauge weighs about 7 pounds. The overall length is about 60" with a 44" barrel. This kit includes everything you need to put it together—minimal fitting required.
