Here is a 1979 KDK 40BMG table fan that I got from my local thrift store last month. Went back to my hometown before my new job starts, and as always I decided to go thrifting at my local thrift store, and I wasn't disappointed! This 40BMG caught my attention, because it seems to be in really good condition for its age! But of course it's 45 years old, there are some signs that show its age. For instance, there are some minor cracks on the motor cover, and the original neck joint broke off so it had to be replaced with another one from a different fan (You could tell it definitely isn't Matsushita!). Nevertheless, these factors weren't really a deal breaker for me, as the overall condition of the fan itself and the vibrant label and visible serial number makes up for its flaws, and those flaws also give it some character! These old Matsushitas are like roaches (in a good way ofc), as they refuse to die even if age or the elements hit them. It is very powerful on all speeds, just as what I expected it to perform! Its performance is comparable to its twin brother which I filmed earlier this year. It has my favorite "Powerful Classic Motor" (a nickname coined by me and @TheMatsushitaMan for Matsushita fans equipped with this motor). Another reason why I got this fan is because I had its sister model (30BMG) long ago, but unfortunately my maid junked it without my permission when I was going to repair it, so this felt like a spiritual replacement to it! Since they're both teal and from 1979 too. The 40BMG was first introduced in 1978, as part of the 1978 KDK G Series fan family. They are essentially a facelift of the 1976 J Series (which I'm hoping to acquire in the future). The 1978 G Series fans were made from 1978-1980/81, and they were the final mainstream Matsushita general fans in the Malaysian market that come equipped with metal blades, since they have been replaced with plastic blades in 1981. Its National counterpart would be the F-40NMK, which is also one of my favorites! Link to its National counterpart: • 1980 National F-40NMK 16" Table Fan (2024 ...
