Mozaico Flamenco presents Pop Up Series 2 at Trout Lake in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This series is brought to you by the DIGITAL NOW 2022 initiative of the Strategic Funds Program, Canada Council for the Arts #bringingtheartstolife. We are filming on the traditional, unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam Nations in Greater Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada and are grateful to be here. Pop Up Series 2 Mozaico Flamenco and Tangos por Fiesta at Trout Lake Mozaico Flamenco and many other small "Cuadro" flamenco groups comprised of singer, guitarist, 2 dancers have peppered the restaurant scene in Vancouver. Vancouver had been the one city in Canada to have been successful commercializing flamenco guitar/cante since 1970s and regularly the Cuadro group since the 1980s. Guitarist Peter Mole started off regular Cuadro shows at The Kino aka Kino Cafe in 1996 where Vancouverites enjoyed regular flamenco from Wednesday through Sundays for 28 years. This Pop Up performance showcases Tangos por Fiesta which typically would finish off a set at The Kino (1996-2020) in a spontaneous, improvisational way. This video was a call to bring back artists from pandemic times after long hiatus.
