Framed in Steel: The Co-operative HQ, Manchester

The Co-operative Group Head Office in Manchester is a 16-storey landmark building and the first phase in the redevelopment of the Group’s 20-acre site. Providing 30,000m² of open-plan office space, the project was designed to create a sustainable headquarters aiming to be Manchester’s first building to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating. The steel-framed structure features a distinctive triangular footprint with rounded corners, a large central atrium and sloping terraced upper levels that form a striking architectural profile.
