Hi everyone I'm comparing both GTX 480s and 470s together this time in Rise of the Tomb Raider. How do they perform in this game and how much of a performance difference will there be between both setups? There was only one issue with sli; there was flickering in a minor section of the benchmark. Other than that the game ran ok with sli. The game looked quite smooth, for sli, and looks to be very playable with these cards. *I forgot to label the sides of the screen in the benchmark if it isn't obvious sorry: *LEFT SIDE: GTX 470 SLI *RIGHT SIDE: GTX 480 SLI -Driver version 391.35 (last one for fermi) -Using external capture card (Elgato hd60s) WARNING - FLICKERING IN VIDEO WHERE NOTIFIED *no aa, no motion/vignette blur throughout testing TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 setup, gpuz/specs 1:05 1080p, lowest preset 3:10 1080p, low preset 5:04 1080p, medium preset 7:00 1080p, high preset 8:57 1080p, very high preset 11:04 end TEST SYSTEM: Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-M Pro CPU: i7 3770k @ 4.5GHz RAM: ddr3 2 x 8gb Corsair Vengeance PRO Silver@2000MHz CL10 1T GPUs running on pci-e gen 2, x8 lanes each PSU: Coolermaster G750M 750W psu CONCLUSION: Both setups ran fine up to the medium preset. There was a slight cpu bottleneck for the lowest settings and part of the low settings - mainly for the last part of both benchmark runs. The medium preset saw vram reaching max capacity for both setups but performance wasn't taking that much of a hit yet. The 480s managed to cope with the high preset but the 470s performance tanked here. Both cards were choking for vram in the very high preset and performance halved for the 480s here. I may test Shadow of the Tomb Raider as well but I can't use DX12 mode with these cards where multi-gpu is natively supported. DX11 mode in Shadow doesn't natively support sli but I have found out that I can use nvidia inspector to enable it with Rise of the Tomb Raider settings. I'll test this soon if it works. I tested it in sli, dx11, rottr compatibility bits, but fps went from 24 single card to 26 sli - not much improvement. GPU utilisation wasn't great (60-70%) and there were artefacts on the screen so I won't be testing it for a video. Thanks for watching!
