Hypertrophic (Acne) Scars are the breakouts of acne, and they leave the skin into a bothersome condition. There are different types of acne scars like atrophic scars, hypertrophic, and keloidal scars. Acne scars are formed when the skin tissues are damaged. A hypertrophic scar is a wide, thick and raised scar which develops on the skin. The main characteristic of a hypertrophic scar is that it is thick and raised above the skin. They are formed due to excess production of collagen. This results from a prolonged inflammatory phase of wound healing. The main treatments available for hypertrophic scar are silicone gels, steroid injections, and laser treatment. One of our patients was suffering from a hypertrophic scar on the nose, due to which the nose of the patient was swollen. He underwent laser treatment and found significant results.
