Chisenbury is a small historic village area in Wiltshire, England, within the civil parish of Enford on the edge of Salisbury Plain, lying along gentle country lanes and near the River Avon in the South West of England countryside. History & Background: Chisenbury (historically also spelled Chisbury) has roots as a tiny settlement or tything in the parish of Enford — recorded in old gazetteers as part of rural Wiltshire. It was traditionally agricultural and connected to nearby woodland, stream valleys and ancient grazing land. Nearby, Iron Age and Romano‑British earthworks and settlements have been found, including remnants of a Romano‑British village at Chisenbury Warren and “Celtic fields” visible in the downland landscape south of the village. The landscape around Chisenbury bears evidence of human activity going back to prehistoric times — from Neolithic barrows to Iron Age camps — making the area rich in subtle archaeological intrigue as well as calm rural beauty.
