Test Train Take Two

We are back at it for another night of testing of Metro-North Railroad's new Siemens Charger SC42-DM locomotives, as they test up and down the Hudson Line between CP26 in Philipse Manor and CP39 north of Cortlandt. This time around, we start in Philipse Manor, where we see the train come south to a stop just below CP26. We then see the train as it starts testing in electric mode while going north. The 302 is running solely on 3rd rail, with no assist from the diesel. As the train goes north through Philipse Manor, we see Train 5794, an equipment move to Grand central Terminal. 5794 consists of Shoreline cab car 6131 with 6 additional Shoreline coaches, and Genesis P32ACDM 218 shoving from the rear. In the next scene, we get ahead of the train, where we see it as it comes north through Cortlandt on Track 4. While the train was turning at CP39, I made my way down to Croton-Harmon. After a bit of waiting, the train came back south, only to find itself staring at a red signal at CP33. This gave me an opportunity to see the 302 as it accelerated from the station while bringing up the markers going south. In the next scene, we are down at Scarborough, where we see the train make its fastest move yet, heading down Track 2 more or less at track speed. The engineer gives a friendly greeting as the train passes by. At this point, both engines are running in diesel mode. In the last scene, we see the train as it comes back north through Ossining. This time, 302 is back in electric mode, as is evidenced by the arcing in the 3rd rail as the train approaches the station. The consist for the test train remains the same as the first day of testing; SC42-DM 301 facing south, 7 Shoreline coaches (with a cab car), and SC42-DM 302 facing north.
