ACE Global's Teaching Travel Team Scholarship

Meet Danielle Balo, a certified pre-operative nurse and one of ACE Global's amazing Teaching Travel Team volunteers. She has experienced first-hand the tremendous need that exists in developing countries like Honduras for sight-restoring cataract surgeries and has witnessed the life-changing impact such a procedure can have on an individual and their family. Danielle, and other surgical support professionals like her, selflessly give much of their own time, resources, and expertise to accompany our volunteer surgeons on their missions to restore sight for those in need and provide training and mentorship to our local Anterior Segment Fellows, ophthalmology residents, and local medical personnel. Our Teaching Travel Teams work tirelessly to lay the foundation for local, sustainable, long-term solutions to the preventable blindness epidemic gripping developing countries like Honduras.
