Well, since a town is created when people gather together, it is natural to be interested in the people who live there, but the key question is what kind of people gather there. They are the ones who create the atmosphere of the city and develop it into a culture. One day. I suddenly thought, "I want to ride a bicycle and photograph the city". The reason was simple. At the time, I was interested in messengers who rode bicycles through the streets of NYC. "Rain or shine, wind or shine," It was very cool and attractive to see them running bravely through the city. I wanted to know how New York City looked in their eyes. But it was 1992, and it was extremely difficult to take video of the city on a bicycle. Nowadays, you can easily capture powerful images by attaching a "GoPro" or something to your helmet and riding a bicycle, but 30 years ago, there were no such video cameras. I managed to mount a "big Hi8 video camera" that I usually used on my bike. The position was slightly behind the handlebars, under the top tube. As a result, it was not from the "messenger's point of view" but from the "bicycle's point of view". But as it turned out, that was fine. The images taken from a slightly lower vantage point with the city flowing backward were interesting.
