2 northbound lanes of SR 99 closed over First Avenue South Bridge until further notice

The two right lanes of northbound State Route 99 over the First Avenue South Bridge in south Seattle are closed until further notice. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) bridge maintenance closed the lanes around 11 p.m. on Wednesday and reduced the speed on the northbound bridge to 25 mph. The HOV lane and the left lane are the only northbound lanes that are open. The HOV lane is open to all traffic, and the bridge will continue to open for maritime traffic as needed. WSDOT tells KOMO News that after doing a bridge inspection, they’ve identified concerns with the steel grid bridge deck.
