"Tommorow or Yesterday" is a song from the first studio album ''Survivors'' by Samson, released in 1979. At the time of recording the "Survivors" album, from which Tomorrow Or Yesterday is taken, Samson consisted of Paul Samson on guitar and lead vocals, Chris Aylmer on bass, and the enigmatic Thunderstick on drums, who decided to adopt a faceless persona by wearing a cotton hood. Chris Aylmer did not appear on the album due to contractual issues, and all of the bass parts were played by John McCoy, who also produced the album, which was mainly recorded during downtime at the famous Kingsway Recorders in London. At around the time that the album was completed, the band expanded to a 4 piece, with the addition of lead vocalist Paul Bruce Dickinson, who was given the easier-to-remember title of Bruce Bruce. Although Bruce doesn't appear on the album, the cover art was redrawn to include him, and at a later date he went into the studio and recorded his lead vocals over the original backing tracks. These versions were eventually released several years later. With Chris Aylmer back on board, the band toured heavily through 1979 and 1980, guesting on tours with Gillan, Rainbow, Robin Trower and Uriah Heep, in addition to their own headline tours. During 1980 they also recorded the self produced "Head On" album, and in 1981 the follow up "Shock Tactics" with ex AC/DC producer Tony Platt. In 1981, Thunderstick left for a solo career, and was replaced by ex Light Of The World drummer Mel Gaynor. Their performance at the 1981 Reading festival was recorded by the BBC for a live album, but this was to be their last show with Bruce Bruce, who reverted back to being Bruce Dickinson and went on to world fame with Iron Maiden. This was by no means the end of Samson, who replaced Bruce with Nicky Moore and Gaynor with Pete Jupp, and went on to continuing success until they split in 1984. For Paul Samson, this was the start of a successful solo career, interspersed with the occasional Samson reformation, and bands including Joint Forces, Empire, and Metallic Blue. Paul Samson passed away at his home on 9th August 2002 after a short illness.
