The Beaumont Hotel was built in 1879 as a Stagecoach and Rail Road stop for weary, pioneer travelers. Surrounded by lush native grass, the abundance of pasture and the rail road line made the hotel a hub for cattle buyers visiting the large, local ranches. Throughout the 1900's, the transportation industry changed dramatically and in 1953, a 2,400 foot grass landing strip that runs North and South was added to the Beaumont Hotel. This allowed cattle buyers to land on the grass strip and taxi directly up to the hotel to park their airplane! This amazing property with its rich history has been restored by S.J. Craig Enterprises out of Lawrence, KS. The passion to restore this hotel and preserve its rich history shows throughout the property. The restoration has completely modernized the property while preserving its classic charm. The property offers rooms at the hotel, a cafe, an RV park, and even a modernized covered wagon that guests can stay in! This beautiful place has some very interesting attractions including its original Wooden Water Tower that was built in 1885! The water tower, the hotel and the Frisco Ponds, which supplied early locomotives with fresh water, are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places! There is an original Santa Fe Rail Road Caboose, an amazing collection of Aviation memorabilia as well as an actual Beech 18 Airplane with an interesting history of running drugs and guns from Central America!
