On Prime Time, Ravish Kumar asks whether the government is not willing to release actual statistics of unemployment in India. According to the National Sample Survey Office's (NSSO's) Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), which has been accessed by the Business Standard newspaper, unemployment rate was at a 45-year-high of 6.1 per cent in 2017-18. Later speaking to the press, NITI Aayog vice chairman Rajiv Kumar said that the report that was 'leaked' was 'not verified'. Later on the show, Amit Basole from Centre for Sustainable Employment, Azim Premji University talks about State of Working India 2018 report released by his university. Dr Basole however adds that despite filing RTIs to get updated statistics on employment in the country, his team got no responses from the government.
