Winfield Spin Fisher - Woolworths - Point, Japan, 1970s - Fixed Spool Fishing Reel. Woolworth high street shops obtained most of their own brand "Winfield" tackle from various far eastern manufacturers. High on that list of suppliers were Point of Japan who in the late 1970s made a trio of very nice quality reels for Woolworths: the Coarse Fisher, Spin Fisher and Beach Fisher. All three were beautifully finished in Winfield green with gold anodised handles and hard anodised corrosion proof spools but that is not the best of it as inside are those most excellent worm gears; the humpback shape with high handle mounting gives it away to the trained eye. Due to their quality, of all the many reels to wear the Winfield brand these three are the among the most desireable and of the three this particular one, the Spin Fisher, is the one that works best in its given role - a very good reel for most freshwater applications with no noticeable vices.
