Ah, Nesticle, one of the first NES emulators (at least, I think so) developed for the MS-DOS. I decided to try one of the oldest versions, Nesticle 0.20, and of course I would try it out first with Super Mario Bros! Now, when it comes to the graphics, I think it looks... fine? The palette is inaccurate, and there is some screen tearing, but for being one of the first versions of Nesticle, I don't think it looks that bad. And the sound? Well, the sound is definitely inaccurate, being a little high pitched, missing a sound channel, and some of the sound in general isn't emulated properly. But again, that's why the later versions improved those things, later making it the best NES emulator for MS-DOS. There's still some gameplay issues though, but they aren't really the most noticeable since the gameplay seems fine a lot of the time. But when you shoot fireballs when many enemies are on screen or heck, just many enemies on screen in general, it slows down much easier than playing it on real hardware or on a Famiclone. Also I think my inputs messed up one time near the end when savestating in DosBox-X rather than in the emulator itself? But those are the only 2 gameplay issues, as I do think it runs much better than MarioNES. So, for being one of the first versions of Nesticle, this definitely ain't that bad! I honestly really like playing the game with the limited sound and the off-color graphics, and even if that's what makes this version of the emulator inaccurate, it's still not that bad and it has definitely improved with it's later versions.
