"You Found Another Guy" was the second single in America from Boy George's second solo album, "High Hat". It was recorded with Teddy Riley and Gene Griffen and was one of the four songs Virgin America insisted George include on the album. They were pleasantly surprised with his top 40 success with "Live My Life" (from the motion picture soundtrack "Hiding Out" a few months prior) and "Don't Take My Mind On Trip", and felt the urban dance music was the ticket to Stateside success. Marketing an openly gay, white, British pop singer to the Urban American market was no simple task, and unsure of how to exactly do that meant unusual demands on George's imagery and presentation. He was asked NOT to wear make-up in the video for "Don't Take My Mind On A Trip", which he refused to do, but did present a more masculine look with minimal makeup as a compromise. Not taking any chances, the label did not request a video at all for "You Found Another Guy", which may have been a bad decision as it did not repeat the minor achievements of the two previous singles, despite being probably the most radio-friendly. The cable network BET ("Black Entertainment Network") had been very supportive of both "Live My Life" and "Trip", but had no video to show for "You Found Another Guy", and (apart from a passing mention in the news as an upcoming release) was understandably ignored. This failure did force Virgin America to reconsider it's marketing of George and the next, final single from the album in North America was the gorgeous "Whisper", a return to the soulful pop music tinged with gospel that was probably the most reminiscent of Culture Club of anything he'd done for this project. George did not write or co-write the song. In fact, it was presented to him as a completed, fully produced instrumental and he just laid down the already written vocals, suggesting this MIGHT have been intended for one of Riley & Griffen's other artists and pulled out of some vault of rejects for Boy George. Of the four songs he recorded for Virgin America's version of his second album, he only partially wrote lyrics for "Whether They Like It Or Not" and "I'm Not Sleeping Anymore". This video includes the two tracks from the promo CD single, the only place the two mixes have ever been released on CD, plus the vinyl only "acapella" version", the B-side from the 7" & cassette single, "I'm Not Sleeping Anymore", and a very hard to find Chris Cox House Mix of the song, released to DJ's only on the Hot Trax DJ subscription service. The original version of that song was created from the ground up, using only the acapella from the original recording, but on the record it was sped up to almost ridiculous velocities for the dance floor. In this video, I have slowed it back down to something closer to the original sound, giving the overall track a more laid-back "chill" feel.
