Where Do We Go - John Bueno

When I was younger, despite the fact that performing is by nature an act of vulnerability, I was always holding back just a bit. I might perform a very personal song and then follow it up by dismissing it as a joke. I now know that one of the best aspects of making music (or art in general) is the connection it allows you to forge with others. However, it is only through true honesty that we can create these connections. With this song and video, my goal was to put myself out there in a way I had never been able to before. Like many people, I don't always love the sound of my voice, so I decided to make a very tender, singing-forward song as opposed to the angry shout-fests of my past work. Additionally, like most, I have some insecurity in my outward appearance, so I decided to make a video that was 100% centered on a video portrait of myself. In the end, I just hope that by watching/listening, people will feel that they know me better. And that if the piece resonates with them, they might feel comfortable sharing more of themselves in return. I hope you enjoy it! Some "thank yous".
