Making Fiberglass Boat Window Frames Using Windows As Molds

The garage window-factory has moved from making the window opening to making the window frames themselves. Each window has a raised lip around the edge to prevent water from running down the side of the boat and into the window. My new window frames have to go over that lip. After supporting the center opening of the window, I covered the lip and everything outside the window with clear packing tape, which acts as a release layer after the frame has been built up with layers of fiberglass. Once everything is covered with fiberglass, I can shove wedges between the new window frame and the part it was molded off of. When things go well, the molded part separates from the packing tape and I have a new part for the boat..
