For twenty-six years, the Tennessee Central Railway Museum has operated diesel powered excursions between Nashville and the small towns of Middle Tennessee. This presentation covers seven different excursions on the most common route of 45 miles between Nashville and Watertown, particularly both of the Easter Bunny Trips and the Mile-Long Yard Sale Trip. Throughout the rest of the year, trains are able to run further to the Del Monaco Winery in Baxter (82 Miles), Cookeville (90 Miles) and Monterey (108 Miles). The museum takes its name from the old railroad that laid these rails over a hundred years ago, which is now operated by the shortline railroad Nashville and Eastern, and utilized by the commuter service Music City Star. Leading the charge eastbound is E8A 6902 (Ex-NYC 4084), which was wearing five different horns over this recording period! Behind the L&N-esque F7B units (Ex-B&LE) is GP7 405, resplendent in its original freight scheme of the Louisville and Nashville. On the upgraded section used by the Star, reaching 60 MPH is not difficult for these units. Trailing behind them are fourteen matching stainless steel passenger cars; mostly acquired from Amtrak and built by the Budd Company for six different railroads!
