Paul is a data scientist at DataSift, occupied mainly by analysis of social media activity, patterns of collective behaviour emerging from the network and semantic analysis of the network content. As a cognitive scientist he is driven by curiosity of human behaviour, conscientious and intelligence. As an architect he has an understanding and appreciation of complex systems, as well experience in visual communication and design. Talk: Social Media -- more than a network Why it is important that we can experience, participate and research stories generated collectively in social media network? What is the significance that the network 'creates' its own narration? Can we see here something more than just a live database of content? I argue that Social media network behave like living system aware of its environment. It is created by intelligent autonomous agents. I would argue that this network is different that everything we knew before. It is different in respect of the volume of information. But the difference has deeper, qualitative nature. Can we see here an emergence of something new? Is it an emergence of collective intelligence?
