I'm tasting wines from TWO of Napa Valley's 100 point earning wineries - Spottswoode & Dominus AND an actual 100 point wine! When my live video with Carlo Mondavi from RAEN got cancelled due to a wifi outage in Italy where he is currently stationed, I took the opportunity to talk about two legends that I happened to have open from a podcast I recorded earlier that day - 2018 Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc and 2016 Dominus. Both wineries have earned multiple 100 point scores from Robert Parker's 'The Wine Advocate' and are considered ICONS in Napa Valley. Spottswoode: Parker has called Spottswoode a "First Growth of Napa Valley " and akin to that of Chateau Margaux in Bordeaux. I couldn't agree more. Today I'm tasting their Sauvignon Blanc which is sourced from both their estate vineyard in St. Helena and other notable vineyards in Sonoma. Dominus: Founded in the early 1980's by Christian Moueix of Petrus in Bordeaux, this dry farmed vineyard in Yountville has been producing wines to critical acclaim almost since it's inception.
